You Are Allowed to Put Some Plates Down
There comes a point in motherhood when carrying everything becomes exhausting.
Not because you're weak.
But because nobody was designed to carry this much.
Many mums find themselves juggling:
The mental load
Housework
Childcare
Appointments
Meal planning
Emotional support for everyone else
Their own expectations
The problem isn't usually one task.
It's the combined weight of all of them.
The Hidden Cost of Perfectionism
Perfectionism often disguises itself as responsibility.
We tell ourselves:
"I'll just do it myself."
"It's quicker if I do it."
"Nobody else will do it properly."
But perfectionism has a cost.
It steals:
Energy
Time
Rest
Joy
And often leaves mums feeling permanently behind.
What Does "Good Enough" Actually Mean?
Good enough doesn't mean giving up.
It means choosing your priorities intentionally.
Instead of asking:
"How can I do everything?"
Ask:
"What matters most right now?"
A frozen meal can be good enough.
A messy living room can be good enough.
A postponed task can be good enough.
Try This Today
Make a list of everything you're carrying.
Then circle one thing that could be:
Simplified
Delegated
Delayed
Dropped completely
Start there.
One less plate often creates more relief than you expect.
Remember
You don't have to carry it all.
Lowering expectations doesn't lower your worth.
It creates space for what matters most.
Motherhood was never meant to be carried alone.
